Japan has just started Offshore Wind from fixed-bottom and floating wind and is now aiming at stretching to the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ area), and in this free webinar you will find out how this affects business opportunities. Opportunities arise from areal surveys, engineering and designing, contracting and subcontracting. Other opportunity areas for Norwegian companies include manufacturing, construction and instalments, operation, maintenance and regulatory framework.
Japan has just started Offshore Wind on full-fledged basis by governmental auction since 2021’s Round 1. This is coming from a governmental target of Offshore Wind as 10GW by 2030 and 30-45GW by 2040 on real generation basis including floating wind.
To achieve this, the government announces to hold 1GW level tenders every year for at least next 10 years and now Japan is in Round 2.
Each sea area is moving up in the categorization and new areas are added from the Preparatory areas. Under these circumstances, some key factors are: expertise, experience, a proven track-record and new technology.
The government evaluates these in tenders and Norwegian companies are likely to be relevant.
